Das Herz ihrer künstlerischen Arbeit sind die "Protokolle": Kirsten Kötter protokolliert die Situation mit Aquarell, Video und Sound in Natur und Stadt. Manchmal stehen dabei Licht, Wetter, Natur im Vordergrund, manchmal ein gesellschaftspolitisches Thema, manchmal beides. | About | Protocols

Kirsten Kötter lässt sich beim Malen vor Ort filmen. Dadurch stellt sie die Aquarelle in ihren Kontext und vermittelt, dass diese nicht beliebig sind. Kötter zeigt sich bei ihrer kreativen Arbeit. Aquarell und Film inspirieren oft das Publikum, selber kreativ zu werden.
Kötter tritt in ihren Videos als "Aquarellmalerin" auf. So trägt sie beim Malen häufig eine besondere Projektkleidung. Sound, Videofilme, Kleidung und Malerei bieten mehrere Einstiege in das Projekt.
Über die Auswahl der Orte und die Erzählung der Erlebnisse dort bekommen die Protokolle von Kötter eine gesellschaftspolitische Relevanz. Kötter taucht in die Situation vor Ort ein. Wo Fotografie stört, stört Malerei meist nicht. So hat Kötter in einer Moschee gemalt, im Landtag, in einer Gedenkstätte, in einem Berliner "Sozialen-Brennpunkt"-Stadtviertel ... und viel in Naturräumen auch angesichts der Klimakrise. Kötter agiert als Individuum in der Gesellschaft, erobert neue Räume, berichtet davon.

Installations and videos are created from the watercolours, paintings, videos, sound recordings and other objects. | Works
Kirsten Kötter has herself filmed on location while painting. In this way, she places the watercolours in their context and conveys that they are not arbitrary. Kötter shows herself in her creative work. Watercolour and film often inspire the audience to become creative themselves.
Kötter appears in her videos as a "watercolor painter". She often wears special project clothing while she paints. Sound, video films, clothing and painting offer several points of entry into the project.
The choice of locations and the narration of the experiences there give Kötter's protocols a socio-political relevance. Kötter immerses himself in the situation on location. Where photography disturbs, painting usually does not. Kötter has painted in a mosque, in a state parliament, in a memorial site, in a Berlin "socially deprived" neighbourhood ... and a lot in natural spaces, even in the face of the climate crisis. Kötter acts as an individual in society, conquers new spaces and reports on them.
